Simone Post (*1990, Utrecht, the Netherlands) is a visual artist with roots in textiles, based in Schiedam/Rotterdam. Growing up, she was surrounded by sewing machines to play around with as her mother conducted sewing classes at home. She graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven with honors in 2015. Simone’s atelier serves as a sanctuary for experimentation and creation with textiles as her ultimate muse.
This can find it’s materialization in various outcomes, such as refurbished and ‘reupholstered’ knob chairs, alienating soft cabinets, pleated ceramics or marshmallow twisted window frames. Post’s work delves deep into color, texture, and print. Her works breath colour and optimism but at the same time are always asking substantive questions. Her work is a testament to the potential of materials, demonstrating that with dedication, craftsmanship, and a sense of wonder, it’s possible to turn seemingly ordinary materials into something extraordinary.
With her work Simone creates a new craft full universe with elaborate applications for material outcasts and fantastical candy(like) objects. She creates outstanding projects for companies including Vlisco, Kvadrat, Adidas and Hermès. Her main focus is on self-initiated works, which find their way to galleries, art fairs, collectors, and museums
Her work has been exhibited worldwide from Brasil, China, Italy, India, US, Europe and has been acquired by multiple museums, including the Vitra Design Museum,Weil am Rhein, Museum Voorlinden, Wassenaar, the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, MAD Paris and the Cooper Hewitt, New York
