The cabinet is fully handcrafted in the Netherlands with local industrial textile waste. The remnants are sorted on colour, cut, pleated, and coiled. They’re arranged in patterns inlayed on the dresser. A handcrafted wooden base and delicate metal strips define the cabinet’s structure, keeping it slender and lending it an appearance of an entirely soft textile object. I use the textile almost as a paint. Because I use textile waste materials the textile already contain history and coloured prints within. So the ‘paint strokes’ I make with the textiles contain many small dots of colour resulting in an almost impressionistic/pointillistic colour effect.
