In the series New Old Chairs, designer Simone Post breathes new life into old, discarded chairs. By treating the wood with a type of batik technique, the chair is essentially upholstered with paint. In the case of this ‘Knobbelstoel’ (Knob Chair), the seat was missing. Post wove one from leftover pieces of rope, ranging from fishing nets to tie-down straps. This chair brings together different eras and styles, creating a new, sustainable eclectic chair while preserving the original model’s visibility.
